It was fun in the sun as about 100 vasculitis patients, family and friends thoroughly enjoyed the 21st. Annual VFC Picnic and 26 Reasons to Walk. \u00a0The day was a great opportunity to meet, and greet fellow patients, old friends, and to see many new faces in the growing vasculitis and VFC family. \u00a0 Between, walking, eating, entertainment and a little competitive prize bidding everyone got to meet other vasculitis patients, and share some \u201cfun but serious” vasculitis stories with friends and family. \u00a0Together, we raised vasculitis awareness, and very close to 15K in funds for research and patient education. \u00a0And,\u00a0you can still make last minute donations to help push us over the 15K mark\u00a0by going\u00a0to the registration website, and\u00a0clicking the DONATE tab,\u00a0located\u00a0here:\u00a0http:\/\/vfcan.convio.net\/site\/TR?fr_id=1100&pg=entr<\/a>y\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Our 21st Annual Picnic and 26 Reasons to Walk was a big success\u00a0thanks to our\u00a0volunteers\u00a0– and many of you!<\/h4>\n

Many thanks to the numerous prize donors who allowed this years Picnic and Walk attendees to their luck at winning some great prizes. Others bid on \u201cselect” donated prizes, and sometimes won them! \u00a0In the end, we had a great time, for a great cause, in the great outdoors, and we didn\u2019t leave any leftovers after our tasty BBQ<\/p>\n

Organizing a successful picnic and walk can only be done with an active group of volunteers. Special thanks go out to:\u00a0Sheri-Leigh Liddard\u00a0for the overall picnic & walk organization etc;\u00a0Jerry Whetham &\u00a0Kin Club of Cambridge\u00a0for handling another of our BBQ’s, and cooking for 100 hungry (and often prednisone fueled), participants;\u00a0Paul Pittaway\u00a0and family for van pick-up, table supply, set-up\/tear down and food & drink co-ordination etc;\u00a0Joanne Leonardo, for set-up\/tear down, bag and shirt distribution etc;\u00a0Carol Moller\/Jon Stewart\u00a0for\u00a0check-in & registrations, eBlasts etc; \u00a0our VFC Blackbaud volunteer\u00a0for constructing the Blackbaud registration site & its implementation, \u00a0The Romanko family (Dorothy, Grenville, Mark)\u00a0for gift baskets, donation table set-up, set-up\/tear down, gift card procurement & sales, and to Mark our fearless walk leader;\u00a0Nancy Martin, and team,\u00a0for ticket sales etc;\u00a0Ann and Audra Turuta,\u00a0for prize table set-up, etc;\u00a0Cindy and Ian Foster\u00a0for gift baskets, set-up\/tear down and more;\u00a0Nancy and Bion Kosiner\u00a0for the 800 line and Jim Berger, for being the first to arrive and the last to leave!\u00a0<\/p>\n
