Saturday October 22, 2016<\/strong><br \/> <strong>St. Joseph\u2019s Healthcare \u2013 Charlton Campus<\/strong><br \/> <strong>2nd.floor Frank Miller Amphitheatre<\/strong><br \/> <strong>50 Charlton Avenue East<\/strong><br \/> <strong>Hamilton, Ontario<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 align=\"CENTER\">Come to the Annual VFC Fall Lectures in Hamilton Ontario<\/h3>\n<p>\u00a0<span lang=\"en-US\">VFC is pleased to advise the theme for this falls lectures will be\u00a0<\/span><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">Moving Forward Together on Vasculitis<\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"en-US\">.\u00a0\u00a0It is an appropriate theme because patients, doctors, researchers and all members of the vasculitis family still need to come together and focus our efforts on moving vasculitis forward in every way. \u00a0Much more can\u00a0be done, and with your participation we\u2019ll continue to improve\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\" style=\"color: #ff0000;\">care<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, we will find new ways to\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\" style=\"color: #ff0000;\">control<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0vasculitis and of course, together we will find the\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\" style=\"color: #ff0000;\">cause<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">,\u00a0and the ultimately the\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\" style=\"color: #ff0000;\">cure<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 <span lang=\"en-US\">We hope you\u2019ll\u00a0<\/span><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">join us on this journey<\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"en-US\">, the next chapter will be October, 22, 2016 in Hamilton when<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0you\u2019ll <strong>hear 6 incredibly determined, dedicated and\u00a0talented doctors share their ideas<\/strong><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0about Moving Forward on Vasculitis. \u00a0Of course, we know large numbers of you are already with us on this journey, VFC\u00a0turned 18 this past spring and Dr. Siminovitch\u2019s original genetics research turned 15 this past spring, with well over 500 Canadian\u2019s participating in this study.\u00a0\u00a0And, PEXIVAS is the world\u2019s largest clinical trial in ANCA Associated Vasculitis (AAV), and Dr. Walsh heads up this important trial.\u00a0We\u2019ve come a long way together and things continue to get\u00a0bigger, and better, as you will hear from this year\u2019s speakers. \u00a0And, you\u2019ll have lots of time to answer questions that are important to you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0<strong><span lang=\"en-US\">This falls lectures will feature some familiar doctors to many of you<\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"en-US\">,\u00a0namely: Dr\u2019s Nader Khalidi (Rheumatology), Gerald Cox (Respirology), and of\u00a0course Michael Walsh (Nephrology &amp; PEXIVAS). \u00a0In addition, we\u2019ll hear updates from: Dr\u2019s Christian Pagnoux (CanVasc), and Katherine Siminovitch\u00a0(Vasculitis Genetics). \u00a0<\/span><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">Joining the above \u201cbright lights\u201d\u00a0will be\u00a0special guest speaker\u00a0Dr. Peter Grayson from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), in\u00a0Bethesda, Maryland.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Registration begins at 9:00AM, as do Lab collections. \u00a0The lecture program gets underway at 10:00AM. \u00a0A food court does\u00a0not\u00a0exist at St. Joseph\u2019s\u00a0Healthcare (maybe for good reason \ud83d\ude42 so\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><strong>we recommend preordering a lunch at time of registration, from a choice of 3 different \u201cbox lunches\u201d, for just\u00a0$13.00 each (tax included)<\/strong>.<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0\u00a0A \u201cTim\u2019s\u201d does exist on-site,\u00a0<\/span><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">however this is not a full service site<\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"en-US\">,\u00a0with\u00a0coffee and donuts, but not soup and sandwiches etc. \u00a0Don\u2019t\u00a0be left hungry!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a name=\"_GoBack\"><\/a> \u00a0 <span lang=\"en-US\">Dr. Siminovitch will be collecting DNA samples, starting at 9:00AM, from all vasculitis patients who have not participated in the past. \u00a0As well,\u00a0<\/span><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">she\u2019ll collect more fresh blood\u00a0cells from GPA\/MPA patients who are already participating in the 6 month follow-up study,\u00a0or those who want to be<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">The initial study target is to get 50 GPA\/MPA patients to give fresh blood samples on roughly a 6 month interval, many of our members are<\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"en-US\">,\u00a0and our spring\u00a0and fall meetings are the ideal time to participate.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">This study continues to deliver valuable information<\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0including the proteins which may be interacting with a certain\u00a0identified gene(s),\u00a0<\/span><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">and the fresh blood cell study information, is about to get even more powerful as you\u2019ll hear from Dr. Siminovitch.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lecture Registration is FREE for VF Canada members, (whose memberships are current!),<\/strong> non-members can attend by making a $20 donation, or by becoming a member with a $20 Canadian membership, or a dual Canada\/U.S. membership for $60. <strong>Lunch is not included<\/strong> and must be pre-ordered at time of registration if you want one, space may be limited so register early!<\/p>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">To view, or download, the full lecture program please <a href=\"https:\/\/vasculitis.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/VFC2016FallLectureProgram.pdf\">click here<\/a>.<\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"en-US\"> <br \/> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">To register for the fall lecture program as a \u201cparticipant\u201d click on participant registration in the visitors box on the main page of the registration site which can be found by clicking here: <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kintera.org\/faf\/r.asp?t=3&amp;i=1163697\" target=\"_blank\"><span lang=\"en-US\">http:\/\/www.kintera.org\/faf\/r.asp?t=3&amp;i=1163697<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VFC 2016 Fall Lectures &#8211;
