Annual Spring Meeting

Please mark you calendars!  Attend our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, April 18, 2015 with guest speaker Dr. Michael Walsh. Dr. Walsh is Assistant Professor of Medicine (Nephrology) and Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McMaster University. His research interests are in systemic autoimmune diseases, particularly ANCA associated vasculitis, chronic kidney disease, and end-stage renal disease.

Dr. Walsh will speak to three areas of interest and concern to all vasculitis patients:

– The PEXIVAS study – after 4+ years where are we now? How will PEXIVAS influence future patient care and the direction it will help steer research?

– Great strides have been made in vasculitis treatments but mortality rates remain a concern we should all be aware of! Dr. Walsh will explain why the data is largely unknown and why discrepancies might exist between published literature, single site experiences in Canada, and anecdotal experience from patients.

– Prednisone – the good, the bad and the ugly! What are the potential effects of prednisone, what’s happening with prednisone dosing globally, and how this may require further research as well as potential alternatives to prednisone.

Your complete spring AGM mailing with full AGM details, schedule, reply form with proxy etc. will be sent late next week. We look forward to seeing all of you on April 18, 2015 at the Cambridge Legion!
